Who I AM

Welcome!

MSc, MA, BA (Hons), MBACP
I'm Zara and I’m a therapist based in Manchester, working both face-to-face and online with adults and young people. As a woman with ADHD, I have experience of being misunderstood and my symptoms being dismissed. I understand how hard life can be. I work with clients all over the world and specialise in supporting people with the search for identity, direction, or the life you thought you'd have.
In therapy with me, you won’t be given a list of things to fix or change. Instead, you’ll find a space where you can slow down, be heard, and begin to make sense of what you're feeling, at your own pace. Feel free to bring your fidget items, I'll bring mine too! We’ll explore who you are now, how loss has shaped you, and what it means to move forward when the future feels uncertain.

I’m Zara Whiteley, a Private Therapist Registered with the BACP:

Navigating change, loss, or uncertainty can be deeply unsettling, even for those who appear to have it all together. In my private practice, I offer a discreet, thoughtful space for high-functioning professionals, creatives, and individuals in transition to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.

Therapy That Meets You Where You Are:

I take a person-centred approach, which means I tailor our work to your unique story, values, and goals, rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. I believe in the power of authentic connection, and I offer a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and deep listening.

My background also includes additional training in solution-focused therapy, CBT, and motivational interviewing, which allows me to integrate practical, evidence-based tools when they serve your needs.

Specialising in Transitions, Loss, and Neurodiversity

Many of my clients come to me during periods of transition, whether that’s navigating the emotional weight of a personal loss, exploring identity, or managing the demands of success alongside ADHD, burnout, or other forms of neurodivergence. You might want to work with me around challenges linked to ADHD, or things like sexuality, gender, or relationships, or you might have something entirely different on your mind. Whatever brings you, you’re welcome here.

If you’re queer or neurodivergent, you won’t need to spend your sessions educating me – I bring lived experience of ADHD and professional experience supporting people across the LGBTQ+ community. Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the surface, make sense of the overwhelm, and create space for sustainable clarity and resilience.

A Calm Space for Self-Inquiry and Growth

Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken – it’s about deepening your understanding of who you are and how you move through the world. I hold space for thoughtful self-inquiry, emotional realignment, and meaningful change, all at a pace that suits you.

Whether you prefer a structured approach or a more reflective, open-ended exploration, we’ll shape the work around what supports you best.

If you’re looking for a quiet, considered space to reflect and realign, I invite you to get in touch. Sessions are offered online or in person, with flexible, confidential options tailored to your lifestyle.
